So first off, Wednesday after school went to la playa de Sardinero and swam in the ocean with huge waves! went to take a picture of jesika, erika, and myself with the wave behind us (sounds stupid now) and we hear the wave coming, turn around and BAM i get a face full of sand because the wave pummeled us JAJA
Thursday after class i packed for madrid, alicia packed two bocadillos (sandwiches) for me and tons of fruit and cookies :) went to bus station and then to the airport where we waited for 3 hours cuz our flight was delayed. Arrived in Madrid around 11p.m. and took a metro (first time for me to ever be on a metro.. I compared it to a Disneyland ride: later on in the trip it wasn’t so much like Disneyland anymore) to our hostel La Posada de Huertas. We were starving so we walked around and found a nice little restaraunt with a bunch of people celebrating a birthday. The couple who owned the restaraunt were super sweet to us and invited us to come to karaoke with them after they closed. So we went to a Karaoke bar and sang a Michael Jackson song jajaja It was a lot of fun :)

Friday we walked around Madrid and went to Museo del Prado, ate paella at a local restaurant, got helado and then took the metro back to our other hostel Barbieri International Hostel. It was a nice hostel but our room was right by the popular side of town and people were yelling all night. I heard a lady yell ESPAÑA!!!! Probably 10 times or more.

| What's on the menu? looks like we're having PAELLA for dinner :) |
Saturday was POURING… no DRENCHING rain. It was ridiculous actually because I only had sandals to wear and so I was soaked all day. Erika and I wandered and found ourselves at the Palacio Real where the King and Queen actually live. Waited in line for an hour and met a nice couple from Texas. Inside was breath taking, I have never seen rooms so magnificent in my life. They were decorated from ceiling to floor, everything was gorgeous. So from there we went to grab some lunch which included a loaf of bread, cheese, and chicken (cheap meal) we checked in at our hostel and then went and explored the gardens where there were weird round shaped trees and visited 2 palaces. At 7 we went to the Reina Sofia museum and looked at awesome artwork of Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso. Picked up some organic food that we found (MMMMMM) and met Tessa and Jen from Canada at the hostel. Erika and I were about to die because we had walked over 10 miles probably in that one day, so we took a “ciesta” at 930p.m. woke up and went out on the town with a bunch of people from the hostel. Met people from Santander who were studying here, people from Canada, Germany, Norway, England, Italy, and all over the U.S. It is such an awesome thing to be somewhere where I can meet people from different countries… literally is incredible to me.

Sunday checked out of the hostel and into another. Walked around the plaza de España, ate a bag of chips for lunch. Went to plaza mayor and saw a flamenco dancer and then mickey mouse, bugs bunny, spongebob and a weird guy who looked like an orc from lord of the rings who walked up behind Erika and she screamed JAJA it was priceless.
We caught the metro to the Plaza de Veras and went to the bull fights. It was very interesting to say the least and also I thought it was sad as well cuz the bull’s die. Definitely a cultural thing that we wanted to see! Met Tara and Marlin from Canada and went out to dinner with them afterwards with Jesika and Christine who had come back from Morocco. Left the restaurant at 1150. We left out hostel at 1a.m. to go dancing and stayed out till 5a.m. Also…. On top of that I’m sick L

Monday we all went to the Museo del Thyssen, sooo awesome. Ate carrot cake J metro, airpot late. Spent the night at the airport on the floor… nope it wasn’t comfortable at all!!! Woke up at 4 a.m. Tuesday and got on the plane at 630 got back home at 8 and slept till 230. Ate lunch at 530 and then no dinner cuz I didn’t feel good. Alicia gave me hot chocolate for my throat and then brought me a scarf and tied it around my neck because it would keep my throat warm while I slept. I felt like I was being strangled so before I went to bed I tried to untie it and couldn’t… oh my. Finally untied it and went to bed!!

dinner tonight. paella, fried egg (but in a thick 3 inches of oil) and
some egg rolls. |

Alicia knows I like Mexican food so she likes to make
something spicy for me because here in Spain they don't
eat a lot of spicy food. I sat with Alicia and carlos at
the table and it was too spicy for them they kept saying.
I though it was sooooo good :) |
Well now that I’ve caught up on my blog I have to go to sleep.
