La Playa!

Since last I wrote, I have been to the beach the last three days after school :)
Sunday- Marissa Jesika Erika and I walked around town and found a catholic church which was amazing and HUGE!
Monday- Class was crazy, Manolo is crazy, but the kind of crazy that is so awesome because I know I will not forgot his methods of teaching! He has what he calls "la silla electrica" which meant that I sat on a chair on top of a desk and had to talk for 3 minutes without pausing and if I did then he wouldd another minute! He said that one year a girl had to talk for 35 minutes! I only talked for 3 :) PHEW!
After class some of us went to Palacio Real which was amazing. we also saw seals and penguins and walked on the beach.

I had no idea there were penguins in Spain!

After the beach we went and bought phones. That was harder than normal conversation because for one, I’ve can never pick out a phone in America let alone, Spain! So I didn’t know which one to pick and then I’m horrible with euros. So Erika and I had to just pick one and try to understand everything that came with what we were buying jaja We then went out for merienda, which is the fourth meal in a day before dinner. 5 total: desayuno, comida, almuerzo, merienda, cena. We sat around and talked till about 830 and I had a coca-cola which is a smaller bottle here than in the US. Went home and ate dinner which included 3 empanada style type things with tuna inside, salad, a omelet, and bread.

Tuesday- another day of school, each day is hilarious with Manolo. Hard to explain his teaching methods jaja I just know that they work! After school ate lunch and then met up with friends to go to the beach again. It was Erika, Isma, and me. We had so much fun and when we didn’t know words, Isma would write them out in the sand for us. Then he drew an entire map of Spain in the sand to show us places he has been and where places were. Then we drew  a huge map of the United states for him! I saw people playing sand volleyball and was jealous jaja I also got to talk to Kimberly, my roommate! And she is in Argentina so that was a ton of fun J

Wednesday- Class, learned a new word that I love: Tiquismikis (tee-keys-mee-keys) which means “picky” like a picky eater J Learned tons today! After class we went to the beach again a la playa de peligro. Today there was a nation wide strike or “huelga general” which meant that some people didn’t go to work etc. Also the buses were on a service minimum, so we walked to the beach. A couple of us went swimming in the bay of Biscay! SWAM IN SPAIN! Erika brought a ball so we played volleyball J I was literally having withdrawals from not playing volleyball so it was awesome to play for awhile. After that we walked home, ate dinner, and then watched Ace ventura Pet detective in Español.

Some interesting things here: all the dogs are mostly schnauzers or yorkies and don’t ever have leashes, but just walk by the street with their owners. There aren’t drinking fountains here. They absolutely love mayonnaise, so I have had a mayo salad-literally mostly mayo. Nobody smiles on the street or say hey or sorry if they run into anyone. And people actually are naked on the beach here and don’t care. I am using up my time for a ciesta (nap) to write this blog and now I am going to go shop and walk around town.
Hope that all you guys are having a great week in the U.S. Love you all J
¡Dios te Bendiga!
